Answers
Answer: Jaya Pala and his son Anandpal.
Explanation:
The two Kashmiri royal rulers with whom Mahmud Gaznavi had to face a fierce struggle were Jaya Pala and his son Anandpal.
The army of Raja Jayapala of the Kabul Shahis was defeated by Mahmud during the battle of Peshawar on 28th November 1001. During 1002 Mahmud invaded Sistan and defeated Khalaf ibn Ahmad thereby bringing an end to the Saffarid dynasty. He then turned his focus to Hindustan to the southeast, chiefly the fertile lands of Punjab .
Raja Jayapala tried to take revenge for his early military setback at the hands of Mahmud's father which had costed him extensive territorial loss. During the late 980s Mahmud`s father had been controlling the Ghazni region. He was succeeded by his son Anandpal who continued the struggle to take revenge of his father's suicide.
He gathered a highly strong confederacy which however suffered defeat as his elephant turned back at the vital moment from the battle, shifting the the tide in the favor of Mahmud in 1008 at Lahore. This resulted in handing over the control of the Shahi dominions of Udbandpura to Mahmud.
Hope this helps.
