The term “subordinate” is relative. The highest authority Court is the Supreme Court and any court with relatively less power/jurisdiction/authority is subordinate to it, for instance the High Courts. Similarly, the Courts having less power/authority than the High Courts are subordinate to the High Courts like, District Courts.
District Courts are also known as Sessions Court. It is one Court, when it adjudicates criminal cases, it becomes Sessions Court, and when it adjudicates Civil cases, it becomes District Court.
