The two properties of carbon are :-
1) Catenation - Self combining capacity of carbon is known as Catenation.
2) Tetravalency - Carbon has valency 4, that's why it can gain as well as loose electrons to achieve the nearest Noble gas configuration.

☺ Hello mate__ ❤
◾◾here is your answer...
The two features of carbon that give rise to a large number of compounds are as follows:
(i) Catenation − catenation is a ability by which , carbon form bond with other carbon atom.
(ii) Tetravalency − With the valency of four, carbon is capable of bonding with four other atoms.
