Mawsynram , in Meghalaya is on the windward side of Garo, Khasi and Jantia hills. It receives rain from the South West Monsoon winds which has its path from the Bay of Bengal. Hence it receives the highest rainfall in the world

Andaman-Nicobar islands receive rain from both the southwest and northeast monsoons. Here the monsoon starts almost from May and continues till December and the annual average rainfall is above 3000 mm.
