  • Water gets heated up slower than land but can retain that heat for longer period.  
  • Wind from sea to the land is sea breeze. During the daytime, the land gets heated up due to hot sun rays and warms the “air above the land” quicker than the “air above the sea”.
  • The “warm air above the land” is ‘less dense’ and creates a low-pressure area above the land.
  • Since the cold air above the sea is denser, it moves to occupy the space created by the low-pressure area over the land.  
  • During the nighttime, the land loses out its heat quickly while the air above the sea retains the warmth.
  • Hence, the low-pressure area is now created above the sea, and the denser and colder air from above the land now moves to cover over the sea.
