a. we use convex mirror ,it is because it's field of view is larger,it forms virtual,erect and diminished images of objects behind the mirror.

b.For solar furance we use concave mirror.Light from the sun,on reflection from the mirror,is concentrated at the focus of the mirror, producing heat.
