zinc chloride reacts with sodium hydrroxide to from a precipitate of zinc hydroxide . this precipitate dissolves in excess sodium hydroxide to form sodium zincate .

ZnCl2 +2NaOH —>Zn(OH)2 + 2NaCl

Zn(OH)2 + 2NaOH —> Na2ZnO2 + 2 H2O
