Male gamete is formed in staminate and female gamete is formed in pistillate of a flower.

Description of staminate:

• The stamen of a flower contains the gametes of male.

• Stamen is a long stalk like in appearance and is divided into two main parts. These are: anther and filament.

• The filament is the long stalk which supports the anther.

•The anther can be linear or round in shape and mainly contains two lobes. Inside each lobes, two pollen sacs are formed.

• Several pollen grains are formed in these pollen sacs which contains the gametes of male.

Description of pistillate:

• The pistil is the structure of reproduction present in the pistil of a flower.

• This structure contains 3 parts: stigma, style and the ovary.

• Stigma of the pistil acts as the receptor to receive pollen grains. The ovary contains the female gamete called the 'ovum' which is fertilised by the gamete of male. The stalk has the function to connect the stigma with the ovary.
