There are number of industrial products produced with the help of microbes specially bacteria and fungus. Some of the microbes and their products are mentioned below:

1. Fermented beverages: Various microbes specially yeast are used in the production of fermented beverages such as wine, beer, brandy, whiskey, rum etc.

For example, Saccharomyces cerevisiae is used to produce ethanol by fermenting malted cereals and fruit juices.

2. Antibiotics: Penicillin obtained from fungus (Penicillium chrysogenum and other species of genus penicillium) could be the best example of antibiotic we obtained from microbe.

3. Chemicals: Various chemicals such as alcohols, organic acids, enzymes etc are mass produced with the help of microbes.

Few examples of producers are:

• Aspergillus niger, a fungus helps in production of citric acid,
• Acetobacter aceti, a bacteria helps in production of acetic acid,
