In Karnataka there are basically 4 types of natural vegetation namely:

• Evergreen Forest: They are typical to regions with heavy rainfall. Common flora include Mahogany, Kino, Rosewood etc

• Deciduous Forest: In dry seasons, trees in deciduous forests shed their leaves. Common flora includes Neem, Mango, Banyan etc.

• Mixed Forest: These forests that have both Evergreen and Deciduous trees.

• Grasslands and Shrubs: These regions have short grasses and shrubs with thorns as the basic vegetation. This is due the scarce amount of rainfall that these regions receive.
