The calorific value of a fuel is conveyed in kilojoules per kilogram (kJ/kg).

The calorific value of a fuel is the amount of heat formed by its combustion – at nonstop pressure and under “normal” (standard) conditions (i.e. to 0oC and under a pressure of 1,013mbar).

The calorific value of the fuel is also called the heat value of the fuel.

It is well-defined as the amount of heat free by burning of unit quantity of the fuel.
