The Western Ghats or the Sahayadri range lies on the west side of Deccan Plateau.
The Deccan Plateau is formed from Igneous rocks and Metamorphic rocks and is one of the oldest shield on the planet. The areas of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu forms the plateau of Deccan Plateau.
The Deccan Plateau extends from the Vindhyan range in the north to Kanyakumari in the south and the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats forms the western and Eastern boundaries of the Deccan Plateau respectively.
