It is a hard but thin covering on the teeth and the most hardest substance in our body. It generally covers the crown part of the teeth. We can say it is translucent in nature because light can pass through it.

The teeth varies in different shape and size with respect to their Functions like molars help in grinding so they are flat and broad. A general tooth consists of crown , Neck and roots when seen from outside. From Inside, It consists of Enamel, the thin hard covering(first layer). The greater part of a tooth is formed by a bone like structure called Dentine. The dentine is covered by a layer of cement near the roots. The cement helps to tight the junction of the tooth to the jaw (bony socket). Here, There is also one fibrous tissue which also helps in binding known as Peridontal Ligament. The root leads to root canal from where many nerve vessels are present. There is pulp cavity deep inside the tooth surrounded by the dentine. It contains mass of cells, blood vessels and nerves.
