The wool yielding animals are Sheep, Goats, Lamas, Camels, Rabbit and Musk oxen.

Wool is obtained from these animals when they shed their fur and is used to produce many useful products.

The pashmina wool is obtained from Pashmina goat or Changthangi as it is called in Kashmir when it sheds its winter coat (approximately 80–170 grams) every spring.
