The objects of the solar system are placed in three distinct categories which are planets, dwarf planets and small solar system bodies:
Planets: There are eight planets in our solar system according to the new definition. The eight planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.Dwarf Planets: Pluto has been demoted from the list of planets and has been placed under the category of dwarf planets. Ceres is another dwarf planet and in the future, many more dwarf planets are likely to be included.Small Solar system bodies: Asteroids, Meteoroids and comets are few of the small solar system bodies.
