The three types of silk are :-

  • Muga silk

  • Tassar silk

  • Mulberry silk

More to know :-

1. The different forms of silk are obtained when larvae are fed on the different types of leaves.

2. Due to difference in leaves that are eaten by larvae we get in India these three forms of silk namely tussar, muga, and mulberry silk.

3. Few key features of these three kinds are as follows:

(a) Muga silk: Glossy fine texture and durable.

(b) Tussar silk: Strong, thus, base material for handicrafts, stitched apparels and furnishing.

(c) Mulberry silk: Very smooth and soft and it is the finest and most expensive form of silk.
