DadabhaiNaoroji was the first Indian to declare that Indian poverty due to a colonial rule which caused drainage of wealth to Britain and the internal factor is not at all the reasons of Indian poverty.

In 1867, DadabhaiNaoroji published his book  ‘drain of wealth’ theory in which he mentioned that Britain was drained the wealth of  India.

He also indicated that in his book  ‘Poverty and Un-British Rule in India’. Additionally, he mentioned the loss of 200-300 million pounds of revenue to Britain and he considered it as a great evil of British in India.
