The two categories of crops based on season are Rabi crops and Kharif crops .

(i) Rabi crops :- These crops are gown in rabi season i.e. in winter season , these crops are grown in October/November and they are harvested in March/April. example of rabi crops are wheat, pea etc.

(ii) Kharif Crops :- These crops are grown in Khraif season i.e. at the beginning of monsoon season, these crops are grown in June/July and they are harvested in September/October. example of kharif crops are rice(paddy), maize, cotton etc.
