(b) It is a narrow plain. It consists of three sections. (c) The Northern part of the coast is called Konkan coast, the central part is known as Kannad plain and Southern stretch is called the Malabar Coast. (d) The rivers flowing in this region are short and fast flowing. The major Westward flowing rivers are Narmada and Tapi. Eastern Coastal Strip (a) It lies between the Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal. (b) It is broader than Western coastal plain. (c) It consists of two main sections. In the Northern part, it is referred to as the Northern Circar. In Southern part it is known as Coromandel Coast. (d) The river flowing in this region are much larger and broader. The major rivers which make deltas are the Mahanadi, the Godavari, the Krishna and the Kaveri.
