Answer:

Four factors affecting lumbering and the consumer cost increase in lumber today are natural disaster (acts of God), Transport, Reduction in production force, and increased tariffs on lumber exporting countries due to political climate.

Explanation:

Lately, there have been an increased number of natural disasters other than the pandemic. There was a serious ice storm in Texas and the Southern US which caused there to be a serious need for extensive resources to be sent to that area. Additionally, flooding in heavily logged areas of Canada is going to cause issues come spring of 22.

Transport is another issue that has increased cost for the lumber industry. Between driver shortage, fuel cost increase, and shipments getting delayed due to decreased workforce at ports of entry; transport has become a huge, very costly issue.

Reduction in production force affects certain sides of the lumber industry. Fewer people at mills due to downsizing because of the pandemic means that less production occurs.

Increased tariffs also play a role as well as an ever changing political climate between the US and lumber exporting countries.
