Name two fungi that breakdown the food material outside their body and absorb it

It is called extracellular digestion. It refers to the digestion of food materials outside the body and then absorbs it. Organisms like mushrooms and bread mold performs extra cellular digestion.  

These organisms releases certain type of enzymes which breaks down the complex compounds present in food into simpler ones and then absorb them.

In fungi, the process of food breakage and absorption of broken food particle from outside of the body is known as extracellular digestion. An enzyme is used to break the complex particles of food items into smaller one.

After breaking the food particles, the fungi absorb them. The two fungi which undergoes the extracellular digestion are as follows:

1. Mushroom.  

2. Yeast which is used in bread.

This extracellular digestion does not occur in human beings but it takes place in saprophytes.
