Not only of venus and mercury have phases as like the moon but all the planets have phases as like the moon. But in case from the earth it is only visible for mercury and venus but not of other planets. This is because, venus and mercury have the orbits which is smaller than that of the earth while the other planets have orbit which is larger than that of the earth. And it is similar to the moon because, the moon at the same time revolves around the earth and as well as of the sun and as result as compared to the size of the moon with the mercury and venus the mean distance becomes in the similar proportion with the earth.
Moreover, their phases becomes same when they appeared to the superior conjunctional side of the sun.
