There were a total of 389 Members in the Constituent Assembly from which 292 were the Representatives of the States ,93 represented the Princely States and 4 were from the Chief Commissioner Provinces.

Dr.Sachchidananda Sinha was the first Temporary Chairman of Assembly followed by Dr.Rajendra Prasad.

Dr.Bhimrao Ambedkar Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee.


Major Figures in the Constituent Assembly were H.C. Mookherjee,Jaipal Singh,G. Durgabai Deshmukh,Abul kalam Azad and Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
