Given :

Length of ribbon bought by Nancy = 15 meters

Length of ribbon bought by her sister = 6 m less

                                                               = 15 - 6 = 9 meters

Amount paid by Nancy = Rs x

Amount paid by her sister = twice of Nancy's amount

                                            = Rs 2 x

Total amount paid for the ribbon = Rs 6

To Find :

Price per meter of two different types of ribbon

Solution :

∵ Total amount paid for the ribbon = Amount paid by Nancy + Amount paid by Nancy's sister

Or, Rs ( x + 2 x ) = 6

Or,  3 x = 6

∴       x = \dfrac{6}{3} = Rs 2

So, Amount paid by Nancy = Rs x = Rs 2

Amount paid by her sister = 2 x = 2 × 2 = Rs 4

For Nancy

Length of ribbon bought by Nancy = 15 meters

Amount paid by Nancy = Rs 2

So, Applying unitary method

∵ Cost of 15 m ribbon = Rs 2

∴ cost of 1 m ribbon = Rs \dfrac{2}{15}

                                 = Rs 0.133 per meter

Again

For Nancy's sister

Length of ribbon bought by Nancy's sister = 9 meters

Amount paid by Nancy's sister = Rs 4

So, Applying unitary method

∵ Cost of 9 m ribbon = Rs 4

∴ cost of 1 m ribbon = Rs \dfrac{4}{9}

                                 = Rs 0.44 per meter

Hence, The price of Nancy's ribbon is Rs 0.133 per meter

And , The price of Nancy's sister's ribbon is Rs 0.44 per meter . Answer
