let son age = X , nancy age= y

According to question

4x = y ........1

( Nancy is four times as old as his son)

Now,

After 16 years he will be twice as old as his son

2(X+16) = y+16 ........2

4x-y=0

2x-y=-16. change the signs

so 2x = 16

x=8

son age is 8years

Answer:

let the present age Nancy son be x

then the present age of Nancy 4x

ATQ

4x+16= 2x

4x-2x =2x

2x=16

×=16/2=8

2 (x-16)=2x-16

2x-32=2x-16

2x-2x=-16+32

x= 16

Nancy son age be = 16

Nancy age be 2×16=32
