A simple way would be to store nanoparticles in a solid - say resin, polymer, ceramic - and "crack"/"Disolve" the solid shortly before nanoparticle usage. Again this depends on the method of synthesis. Also, to play with different solvents (organic/aqueous) may also be helpful.
