<b>Heya mate. (^_-). Solution below.
====================================

• Let Narsimha's earlier salary be 'x'.

• Then increase in salary -

= 40% of x

= 40/100 × x

= 2/5 × x

= 2x/5

• Then, increased salary -

= x + 2x/5

= (5x + 2x)/5

= 7x/5

• Now, decrease in salary -

= 40% of 7x/5

= 40/100 × 7x/5

= 2/5 × 7x/5

= 14x/25

• Then decreased salary -

= 7x/5 - 14x/25

= (35x - 14x)/25

= 21x/25

• Now, decreased salary = current salary

=> 21x/25 = 16800

=> x = 16800 × 25/21

=> x = 420000/21

=> x = 20000

<marquee>Hence, Narsimha's earlier salary was Rs. 20000.</marquee>
