Naresh connected three bulbs in series and plugged them to AC mains. He was shocked to see them glowing with low intensity. What could be the reason? Suggest remedy.

suppose he took three bulbs rated as 100W. 220V.
It means if supply of 220v is given to a bulb then only its power out put will be 100w.
when such 3 bulbs are connected in series potential difference across each bulb is 220/3 v
which is only 73.3 V so the bulbs dont glow with high intensity.
Had the bulbs been connected in parallels each bulb would get supply of 220V and would glow with smiling face ie with high intensity.
