The slow and steady wins the race
Everyone in school knew I would be the unchallenged School topper . In all the past years I had always stood first, far ahead in marks from the rest of my batch mates.
The boy who usually stood second- Karan, was a typical book worm, always studying with no extra curricular activity. I, on the other hand, was good at sports, quiz, drama, elocution. My junior admirers called me Da Vinci after the great creator and versatile genius of Monalisa.
The Board exams were fast approaching. My parents and teachers were continuously warning me to study hard as time's winged chariot was on its voyage.
I knew I would cover my syllabus in no time so I read books, played games and did everything other than studies like the hare in the fable 'Hare and tortoise'.
Karan, the tortoise, on the other hand was steadily studying and finally when the race of examination finally dawned, he raced far ahead.
The results reflected that Karan had topped the list and I was nowhere near him. In fact there were three others ahead of me. I was totally devastated. It was then that I resolved, ' I promise myself to work hard in order to achieve success.'
