Life at times becomes quite unpredictable. Usually this happens when we stop being cautious and do something recklessly, violating the safety norms. I witnessed an incident in which a group of boys put their life in danger by acting carelessly.
I had been visiting Manali with my family in the month of late July. We were having a great time. On the second last day of our trip, we decided to go to the river Beas and spend a few hours on its banks. Now the Beas River in Manali is not a wide river with calm waters; it’s a current of fast flowing stream of water. There are many big rocks and boulders lying in it. When the current of the stream is low, people usually jump on to these rocks and boulders and take selfies or groupies.
That day the water level was a little low! A group of rowdy boys jumped on to one of the boulders and started having fun. As everyone on the banks stood looking at them, something unexpected happened. Suddenly the current of the stream of water began flowing faster with more and more water coming down from the upper mountains. Within a few moments, the river was flooded with enormous supply of water. The boys on the boulders began shrieking and screaming for help. If no help was provided to them, they would surely be carried downstream. And just then, one of the boys fell into the river and was carried downstream.
People began to rush here and there for help. Some people brought a big rope and threw it to the boys struggling to save their life. After a few attempts, boys got hold of the rope and one by one they were pulled to safety. No one knows what happened to the boy who had fallen into the river.
