What happened was that the guru had a plan to save his diciple.
According to the plan ... they said to king that the stake was a new and divine one. Whoever dies first will be the next king of this kingdom, and the one who dies next will be the minister. King believed in their words and the minister and king themselves dressed as the guru and disiple and they died in the stake.
