A large but a peaceful crowd gathered at the jallianwala bagh for the protest of arrest of Dr. Saiffudin kitchlu and Dr. Satya Pal. General Dyer ordered his soldiers to fire on the public by gathering at the one and only gate. The soldiers kept firing till their ammunition was exhausted.

It lead to the non cooperation movement.

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919 when a crowd of nonviolent protesters, along with Baishakhi pilgrims, who had gathered in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab, were fired upon by troops of the British Indian Army under the command of Colonel Reginald Dyer.
