After the hunters left the place, the female sarus crane circled the sky in dots and pits, as if transmitting her sorrow to the very heavens. Then she came to the death place of its mate and collected few bloodied and broken feathers which the wind had not taken away and desperately sat on it to bring back its partner's life by hatching into a toddling chick. When she was sitting on the feathers, the waves which she had never seen came to her like death and took her lifeless body with it. Like this she pinned herself to death.
