This is a story about Mahendra, a junior supervisor and his cook, Iswaran. Mahendra’s job was to supervise at various construction sites and he had to keep moving from one place to another such was the nature of his job. He was a simple man and so were his needs. But he had fortunately an expert caretaker, Iswaran who cooked his meals, washed his clothes and chatted with him at night. He would follow his master without complaining wherever he went.
Iswaran was very fond of reading Tamil thrillers during his spare time. As a result he innovated his own thrillers and would tell about it to Mahendra. He was so much influenced by those tamil thrillers that even the smallest of incident he would describe by giving his own touch to it. For example to describe an uprooted tree, he would call it a big bushy beast sprawling across the road. The latter used to hear patiently without finding any loopholes in the story. In short Iswaran played the role of a TV in Mahendra’s quarter.!
