THE BEGINNING OF MUSLIM CALENDAR

the Muslim calendar is based on observation. For the solar calendar whose first year is fixed to the islaam, see Solar muslim calendar.

It is used to determine the proper days of Islamic holidays and rituals, such as the annual period of fasting and the proper time for the pilgrimage to Mecca.

This is how the Islamic calendars started.
