Valli was very excited to enjoy the views from the moving bus. Outside she saw the canal and, beyond it, palm trees, grassland, distant mountains, and the blue, blue sky. On the other side was a deep ditch and then acres and acres of green fields as far as the eye could see.
Valli was amazed at the experience as the bus passed through a tiny hamlet or past odd wayside shops, past railway level crossing, the train station, shopping street, and a thoroughfare. Finally, the bust reached its stop.
On the return journey, Valli saw something unpleasant. The cow who had run in front of the bus and seeing which Valli had laughed, she found the same cow dead by the roadside. Perhaps some vehicle had run over it. This incident dampened her enthusiasm and excitement.
