★ The tense of the reporting verb should never be changed.

★ We use linker before the Indirect speech.

★ The first letter with an inverted commas will not remind capital in the invited speech .

★ The pronoun should be changed according to the sense of speech.

  • Direct speech includes the actual or real words spoken by the speaker in quotation marks

  • Indirect speech has many modifications.

  • Usually , the fact is that a mixture of direct and indirect narrations in the writings bring up extra attention of the readers.

  • But , we must use them wisely as the entire writing doesn't look nice if you write continuously in one narration.

  • Indirect speech witnesses a change in the tense.

  • Simple Present - Simple Past.

  • Present Continuous - Past Continuous.

  • Present Perfect - Past perfect continuous , and so on !!.

  • All you have to do is keep aware of the tense formats and use them accordingly

  • If the reporting verb is in the present or future tense, the tense of the verb isn't changed in the indirect speech.

  • All the tenses of the direct speech are converted to the past tense in the indirect speech, but if the sentence is already in past tense, it turns to past perfect tense

  • If the person addressed to, reports the speech, the second person in the direct speech becomes first person in the indirect speech.
