It narrates his love for cricket even from his childhood. From very early age Sachin used to play tennis-ball cricket. He loved watching cricket on television and imitated the mannerisms of his favourite players Sunil Gavaskar and West Indian legend Viv Richards. At the age of 11 his brother Ajith took him to coach Achrekar Sir, for a trial in the summer camp conducted in Shivaji Park. When Achrekar Sir asked Sachin to bat, he could not perform well. At that time Ajith convinced Sir of his potential in cricket. So Sir agreed to train him, and soon he himself recognized Sachin’s talent. Ajith accompanied his brother to the coaching camp in the beginning and talked to him a lot about cricket. He gave him a note containing some thoughts about batting. Achrekar Sir suggested that Sachin should change his school to get full time training. His father agreed to it. So Sachin was shifted to Sharadashram Vidhya Mandir where Achrekar Sir was the cricket coach. From here the journey of Sachin from being an ordinary kid to cricket legend has started. Achrekar Sir gave him rigorous training, encouragement and timely advice. He was a strict disciplinarian too. When Sachin went to play with little kids, Achrekar Sir would remind him not to waste time playing with those kids. He added that cricket was waiting for Sachin at the nets. He was very far-sighted. One day Sachin bunked the coaching and was caught by Sir. That day Sir prophesied that, he was not to go and watch other people’s matches, others would come and watch him playing. If Sachin was not trained by Achrekar Sir he would not have become a famous cricketer. Sachin devotes all his achievements as a cricketer to his coach Achrekar Sir.
