Nasruddin finished his prayer and started towards home .He saw a beggar
sitting on the street asking for alms .Nasruddin asked him, ’Are you extravagant ?’
The beggar replied in the affirmative.
‘Do you like to sit sipping coffee and smoking?’ was the next question.
The beggar replied in the affirmative again.
‘I think you go to the hamam every day?’
‘Yes,’ replied the beggar.
‘How about amusement with friends? ’asked Nasruddin
‘Yes, yes....I like all those things’ the beggar replied.
Nasruddin shook his head as he gave him a gold coin.
A few steps away a another beggar sat listening to this conversation. He looked
hopefully at Nasruddin. A similar question –answer session was repeated and the
second beggar proved that he was indeed a pious man. Where upon, Nasruddin gave
him a small copper coin. The second beggar was aghast. ‘But why a copper coin to
me, who is so pious ? And a gold coin for that one?” ‘My friend , said Nasruddin ,’ his
needs greater than yours.’ 1 what do you learn by this passage
