This is the peculiar nature of India. No other country has so many castes, so many languages and so many cultures. At one stage India was one large, undivided country. Later it was divided into several linguistic states according to the language spoken in a State. The States in India are: Karalla, Tamil Nadir, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orison, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Harahan, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim and Maharashtra. The linguistic States were formed for administrative convenience.
