1 Educationalpolicy Education policy are the principles and government policy-making in the educational sphere, as well as the collection of laws and rules that govern the operation of education systems. Nationaleducation commission1959 National Commission of education was adopted by Government on 30th December 1958.This commission was known as Sharif commission. Its chairman was S.M Sharif. The main reason was that the existing system of education was not adequate to meet the requirements of national. This commission was lunched by President Mohammad Ayub Khan on 5 January 1959. On 5th January 1959 the Commission started to prepared education policy. On Aug 26, 1959, the Commission submitted its report covers 350 pages. Objectives of commission The commission on national education outlined the following objectives 1. Religious education was made compulsory in this commission. 2. Equal expansion for boys and girls. 3. Training of manpower, educated citizen and competent leadership required for the country. 4. To meet the individual and collective need and aspirations of the people of the country. 5. To provide individuals full opportunities to develop their skills and for development of all the 6. Vocational abilities needed for the creation of a progressive and democratize society. 7. Preservations of the ideas which led to the creation of Pakistan and strengthening the concept of it with the unified nation. 8. To create a sense of unity and of nationhood among the people of Pakistan 9. Creation of a social welfare state. 10. Training of leadership group in engineering the skills of government and commercial development. 11. Training of scientist engineers, and technicians 12. Availability of the benefit and opportunities of education to all citizens of Pakistan 13. Development of intellectual abilities and building of the character of the individuals 14. Silent feature Silent feature of this commission was: Higher education, Vocational education, Primary education, Secondary education, Adult education Physical education, Religious education, The arts, education of children with disabilities, educational institutions, and of military training. Recommendations of commission were:  Character building  Compulsory primary education  Focus on science and technical education  National language as medium of instruction  Three year degree program  Elimination of illiteracy.
