Remember we have existing Nusselt No. correlations for such flows from unfinned horizontal cylinders and flow over flat horizontal/vertical plates and channels. Correlation for a finned cylinder can be looked upon as Nu for an unfinned horizontal cylinder multiplied by some factor which takes into consideration the fin geometry and fin orientation among other parameters.
