Equatorial Region

  • A natural region is a group of areas where the conditions of relief, temperature, rainfall and natural vegetation are more or less similar.
  • The equatorial region covers only 6 % of the Earth's surface. It contains more than 1/2 of the world's plant and animal species.

Deciduous Forest

  • The word "Deciduous" means "falling off or out at a certain season". Vegetation composed primarily of broad-leaved trees that shed all their leaves during one season.

Coniferous Forest

  • Coniferous forests are also known as Taiga, the Siberian or the cold Temperate Central Type.
  • Coniferous forests are located between 55° North and 70° North latitudes.

Tropical Monsoon

  • Tropical monsoon climatic region is normally located between 10° and 25° North and South of the equator. In India, it extends up to 30° North latitude.
  • Tropical monsoon climatic region lies mostly in the eastern margins of the continents.

Hot Desert

  • Hot desert is the driest and hottest place on the earth. Hot deserts lie between 20° and 30° latitudes in both the hemispheres. They lie on the western parts of the continents. The hot deserts of the world are Sahara Desert, Arabian Desert, Thar Desert, Sonoran Desert, Kalahari De etc.

Mediterranean

  • The world is divided into various climatic regions. Every climatic region has some diversity. Likewise, Mediterranean climatic region also has some distinct features.
  • Mediterranean region is located between latitudes 30° and 45° north and south of the equator.

Temperate Grassland

  • Temperate grasslands are leveled and treeless plains. These grasslands across the world have distinct landforms, which are determined by the local climate and diverse flora and fauna.

Tundra

  • Tundra region lies beyond the Arctic Circle in the Northern Hemisphere. The term tundra comes through Russian tundra means "uplands", "treeless mountain tract". There are three types of tundra: Arctic tundra, alpine tundra, and Antarctic tundra.
