(ii) It is rich in soil nutrients like calcium carbonate,magnesium, potash and lime, but poor in phosphoric content.(iii) It develops deep crack during warm weather, helping in proper aeration of the soil.

Distribution:

(i) Black soil is typical of the Deccan trap region spread over northwest Deccan plateau.

(ii) They cover the plateau of Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Malwa, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

(iii) They are also found in the Godavari and Krishna valleys.
