Answer:

I wandered lonely as a cloud - William Wordsworth

Explanation:

The poem 'I wandered lonely as a cloud' also known as 'Daffodils' by poet William Wordsworth.

As we all know that W. Wordsworth is known as poet of nature or romantic poet because he writes about nature, its beauty, its soulfulness. In the poem 'Daffodils' Wordsworth also romanticised the nature. He explains the nature at its best. He described how Daffodils danced, how he wandered lonely as a cloud and witnesses everything. He uses metaphor and simlies in his lines. And if we talk about 'nature can be the best friend of a man' we can see the poet described himself as a part of nature when he say 'I wandered as a cloud'. Wordsworth see the nature and feels pleasure, a sense of joy and satisfaction. Around nature he feels delighted, and we can see his this feeling in line

"and then my heart with pleasure fills".

In all four stanzas he talked and elucidated nature as its best friend, how your best friend makes you happy same nature makes you happy. Nature has the quality of a friend. And that is how Wordsworth and Daffodils are best friend.

Man is undeniably a part of nature and nature has a soothing effect on humans. Nature can be man's best friend in more than just one way.

To begin with, a best friend is one whose company is enjoyable. A best friend is a source of pleasure and one looks forward to being with him. Similarly, in the poem "Daffodils" by William Wordsworth, the poet seems to be overjoyed at the sight of the daffodils that lined the bay. He confesses that he could not help being happy and that nature offered him 'jocund company', meaning delightful company.  So, the poet thoroughly enjoyed watching the flowers as they were 'fluttering and dancing' 'in glee'. It made him happy just as a being with a best friend would.

Additionally, a best friend is someone who is thought of or missed often. The poet says that 'For oft' during his leisure time, he thinks of the daffodils. He has in a way, created memories with nature the way one creates memories with a best friend.

Further, a best friend always comes to one's rescue when one is feeling bored or depressed. In the poem too, whenever the poet is in a 'vacant or pensive mood', his mind goes back to the sight of the daffodils, which fills his 'heart with pleasure' and uplifts his spirits. That is precisely what a best friend would do- cheer one up.

It can rightly be said that nature can indeed be man's best friend, provided man is sensitive enough to appreciate the gifts that nature has to offer.
