In the poem Rain on the Roof Poet Coates Kinney talks about how he loves to press the pillow of a cottage chamber bed. He tells how when he listens to the patter of the rain on the roof thousands of memories come into his mind and how those memories form a very beautiful picture which the poet recollects. He says that while listening to the tinkle of the rain on the roof he is reminded of his mother who was very fond of him.

So of course nature is an ultimate source of spiritual pleasure...

Answer:

The general atmosphere of the poem is very somber. There is darkness around but rain compensates it with the spirit of peace for the lonely night at hand. The poet realizes how much joy and pleasure of sleep he can attain when his head presses against his pillow to conclude the long day into a good nights rest.
