Nature is not only around us, it is also within us. It has a healing power that no other entity in this world has. Recognising the healing power of nature, many people travel around the world to places which offer solace and comfort.

I travel frequently whenever I have an opportunity. My destinations are always places which offer natural surroundings and not urban jungles. I go with my family to visit jungle retreats, wildlife sanctuaries, secluded beaches or mountain resorts. The few days I spend there, I go on nature walks, bird watching or just close my eyes and sleep under a tree. The sights and sounds of the natural habitats truly soothe my spirit and soul. I feel completely rejuvenated.

It is very natural to sometimes get caught in your hectic routine and pressures of a modern life. But if you consciously plan trips get-aways like these, they heal your worried and tired mind and prepare you to take your challenges with a positive mind.

Healing Power of Nature:  A Personal Experience

Nature is man’s best friend indeed.  Without nature, man cannot exist for a second. The oxygen that he inhales every moment, comes from the nature; the water he drinks, he receives from nature. Similarly, food, fruits, vegetables, clothes, wood, iron, gold, diamonds, and everything he receives from the bountiful hands of nature.

Not only is nature the supplier of his sustenance, it is also the paint that weaves colourful patterns around his existence. The blue sky, the orange sunset, the white clouds, the green meadows, the silvery rivers and moon, the vibrant rainbow and flowers, etc.;  these colorful entities make his life polychromatic and full of fun, peace, joy, and serenity.

I came to know about nature’s healing power recently. On account of my personal loss I became very depressed. I lost all desire to live. Then a close friend of mine suggested I should spend a few days in the lap of nature. Following his advice I went to Rishikesh. I stayed at an ashram that was situated on a hill. Below it gurgled the holy Ganges. The refreshing surroundings, peace, serenity, holy company of spiritual men healed me totally. In the evening I would on the banks of the Ganges and meditate. I was filled with new life.

This how I was healed by nature.
