                                     Healing Power of Nature

Stress, tension, worry, turbulence, restiveness, and fidgetiness are the fallout of the modern fast-paced life-style. Man in this situation has realized he is in the direst need of tranquility and serenity. This peace can only be found in nature or in God. Since finding God is esoteric and abstruse, peace in nature is instant.

Nature is man’s best friend and replenisher.  Without nature, man cannot exist for a second. The oxygen that he inhales every moment, comes from the nature; the water he drinks, he receives from nature. Similarly, food, fruits, vegetables, clothes, wood, iron, gold, diamonds, and everything he receives from the bountiful hands of nature.

Not only is nature the supplier of his sustenance, it is also the paint that weaves colourful patterns around his existence. The blue sky, the orange sunset, the white clouds, the green meadows, the silvery rivers and moon, the vibrant rainbow and flowers, etc.;  these colorful entities make his life polychromatic and full of fun, peace, joy, and serenity.

I came to know about nature’s healing power recently. On account of my personal loss I became very depressed. I lost all desire to live. Then a close friend of mine suggested I should spend a few days in the lap of nature. Following his advice I went to Rishikesh. I stayed at an ashram that was situated on a hill. Below it gurgled the holy Ganges. The refreshing surroundings, peace, serenity, holy company of spiritual men healed me totally. In the evening I would on the banks of the Ganges and meditate. I was filled with new life.

This is how I was healed by nature.

Witnessing the elements of nature can surely brighten up one’s mundane day and put their worry to rest.

Last year, my father was diagnosed with acute respiratory disorder and he was advised to take a break from the city pollution and spent some time amidst nature to grab some fresh oxygen.

So we went to our grandfather’s farmhouse in Mirik and stayed there for a month.

Mirik is a small tourist destination in Darjeeling but it hardly experiences the crowd like Darjeeling.

My maternal grandfather was posted in Mirik for many years as a forest officer so before retirement he made a wonderful farmhouse in a beautiful location by the lake, surrounded by the mountains.

In the lawn of the farmhouse, everyday uncountable birds used to come and that was a sight indeed.

Not only my father recovered completely, we also felt happier than ever, our hearts filled with absolute joy, after experiencing the beauty of nature from such a close proximity.
