There are so many examples that you can use to substantiate your argument. Firstly, the Bishnois in Rajasthan tied themselves on to trees when they were being felled.  More recently, the villagers in the Niyamgiri Hills fought tooth and nail and did not permit Vedanta to mine the hills. Just a day back New Zealand, due to the pressure exerted by the Maoris who see the sanctuary as an extension of their own self, has granted the status of a person to a sanctuary there, which means that anyone can on behalf of the sanctuary, can file a lawsuit if any harm is being brought to the sanctuary.
