Natya -Shastra is one of the ancient work on performing arts. It was done by Indian author named Bharath Muni who is also known to be Rishi Bharata. Natya Shastra was written in Sanskrit language with 36 chapters and 6000 poetic verses which describes about the performance of arts.  

The author narrates the Natya - Shastra about the composition of drama, order of a play and construction of stage. It also describes about the movements of body, acting genres, role of directors, role of musical instruments, costumes and makeups.
